I gave this movie 5/5 smileys: 
It's a nickelodeon movie so I didn't expect any adult humor but they managed to sneak some in (even a rectal joke!). Less than 10 minutes in there is a nod to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (also starring JD).
I'm not sure but some scenes look like they use motion-capture/CGI like the pirates movies, while others are pure CGI. Either way you should see this movie regardless of whether or not you have kids.
